Domaine Faiveley is a major owner in Chambertin Clos de Bèze, possessing 1.3 hectares – a significant proportion of the total 15.4 hectares. Colour is purple-ruby of medium depth. As we expect from Clos de Bèze – which rarely struts its stuff while youthful – this wine’s nose is presently discreet, but clear, black fruits and spicy aromas emerge as the glass is swirled. The palate is a marvel of rich fruitiness, mouth-filling structure, and creamy texture. Lovely tannins are present, without harshness of any sort. This is one of the grandest wines imaginable, with a very great future head of it. It will make stupendous drinking for those who can cellar it 10, 15, 20 or 25 years (for drinking 2024-2045+).
