Domaine Henri Magnien is the only owner with plots in both sectors of this Grand Cru: Ruchottes du Dessus (white oolite subsoil), and Ruchottes du Bas (Prémeaux limestone) – which surely accounts for the extraordinary richness, complexity, harmony and finesse of this wine. The average age of the vines – 45-50 years – no doubt also plays its significant part. The wine has been ageing in 100% new oak, but you would not guess this, so perfectly are all elements merging together. Colour is vibrant purple-ruby, aromas are fragrant, complex and beautiful. Palate is full-fruited, velvety-textured, impressively structured, lively and very long (for drinking 2020-2040+). Only 2-3 barrels of Ruchottes-Chambertin Henri Magnien are made each year, so our allocation is limited. Please let us know your wishes quickly, so we may do our best to share bottles as fairly as possible.
