This vineyard is a monopole, solely owned by Thibaud Clerget’s family. It lies on steeply-sloped land between Taillepieds and Bousse d’Or, in one of the village’s sweetest, First Growth spots. The rows of vines unusually run from north to south, which meant that in 2016 the waves of frosty air coming from the valley passed over, not between the rows. There was no frost damage here, so we have a normal crop, which has been judiciously ageing in just 20% new oak. Colour is richly purple; aromas are glorious – black fruits, very expressive. This is a great wine, with sumptuous structure, gentle, rich tannins, superb aftertaste (for drinking 2020-2035+).
