This is Thomas Bouley’s favourite plot: “I love this vineyard. Its gentle slope, and the way it is favourably exposed (facing south-east) to hasten ripening. The soil is unusually red.” In turn, it is hard not to love this 2016 wine: in colour, medium, purple-ruby, with tightly-woven, sweet red cherry aromatics. The palate is full-bodied, sumptuously rich with generous middle and well-concentrated, spicy flavours. This has all the parameters of a great wine: density, elegant texture, marked-but-ripe tannins, superb length (for drinking 2020-2032+).
