The Rocca family has been working the land of the township of Barbaresco for more than two centuries, but it was only in 1978, with the arrival of Bruno, that the family business was modernized and wine started to be bottled under the family name. Now working alongside his children Luisa and Francesco, the family`s wines are known and recognized on an international level – they have great intensity of fruit whilst retaining the structure and elegance of the Langhe at its best.
The Nebbiolo grapes for this wine come from young vines, grown in Bruno Rocca`s vineyards in Neive, Cru San Cristoforo, Marcorino and Fausoni. The Neive vineyard is particularly sandy and tufaceous, creating full-bodied wines with rich tannins. Intense garnet-ruby in colour, this 2017 has expressive aromas of blackberries, black cherries and plums, with overtones of rose, violet and spice. Palate is full, mouth-filling and elegantly textured. The finish is long, ripe and refined (for drinking 2020-2024+).
