  1. 2020 Nuits-St-Georges, Domaine Confuron-Gindre

This comes from three well-placed plots, Les Allots, Lavières and Herbues. A fair proportion of old vines feature here, and have given a wine of impressive purple depth, with rich, black fruit aromas. Palate shows full structure, with very fine concentration (for drinking 2023-2026+).

  2. 2020 Vosne-Romanee, Domaine Confuron-Gindre

20% of whole bunches were added here for fermentation, bringing freshness to superbly ripe fruit, and the wine has been ageing in 20-25% new barrels. Colour is bright purple of medium depth, aromas being fresh and open. This is a well-balanced wine with fine, fresh aftertaste (for drinking 2022-2025+).

  3. 2019 Vosne-Romanee, Domaine Confuron-Gindre

20% of whole bunches were added here for fermentation, bringing freshness to superbly ripe fruit. Colour is rich purple, with open, lively aromas. Palate is medium full, showing charming balance between fruit and gentle tannins (for drinking 2023-2025+)

  4. 2020 Santenay 1er Cru Clos de Tavannes, Domaine Françoise et Denis Clair

Two-thirds of this vineyard is planted with very old vines (aged 60 years or more), the balance with vines aged 35+. This is once again the most richly structured wine in the Clair cellar – magnificent, though more backward than Clos de la Comme. The wine is ageing in 20% new barrels. Deep purple in […]

  7. 2020 Santenay 1er Cru Clos de la Comme, Domaine Françoise et Denis Clair

This vineyard touches Chassagne-Montrachet First Growth Morgeot, which lies just across the commune border to the north. Although the vines are youthful, the quality of Pinots chosen for planting, allied to the exceptional nature of the site, now result in a wine of great beauty and elegance. Purple-ruby of medium depth, with freshly spicy aromas, […]

  8. 2021 Santenay Blanc, Domaine Françoise et Denis Clair

These vines were planted on land now deemed more appropriate for Chardonnay than Pinot Noir (which had previously been grown here). Colour is pale, lemon-golden, aromas are fresh, clean and ripe, palate is round and rich, with soft, lively aftertaste (for early drinking 2023-2025+).

  9. 2021 Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune Rouge, Domaine Françoise et Denis Clair

This is a great value Burgundian Pinot Noir, made from a blend of grapes from two areas – 20% from above Saint-Aubin, the balance from near First Growth Les Maranges, south of Santenay. The vines are really fine Pinots, producing small berries with thick skins – and half the plantings are old vines. Deep, purple-ruby […]

  10. 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Frionnes, Domaine Françoise et Denis Clair

Here is an outstanding First Growth Saint Aubin, which has been vinified and aged 100% in small oak barrels, one in six being new. The wine is assembled 1/3 from the Perrières part of the vineyard, where the vines are 70-80 years old, with 2/3 from Les Frionnes itself (average age 25 years). Green golden […]

  12. Jensen’s London Distilled Bermondsey Dry Gin

Jensen`s Gin is distilled in small batches in a converted railway arch in Bermondsey. This Dry gin is a recreation of a classic, old-fashioned London Dry style. Smooth and rounded, with delicate citrus and floral notes, this is excellent served over ice with tonic and a slice of lemon, or as a Dry Martini.

  13. 2020 Santenay Clos Genet, Domaine Françoise et Denis Clair

This is not a First Growth, but represents Santenay’s appealing fruitiness, at a reasonable price, with engaging stylishness. It is a success almost every vintage, and time has shown it ages well. The vines lie up-slope from the Clair Domaine, downhill from First Growth La Maladière. Colour is very deep, ruby-purple, aromas show pure fruit, […]
