Reverdy`s `à Nicolas` cuvée of Sancerre Rouge is named for Pascal`s brother, who tragically died in an accident 10 years ago. It is from a parcel of vines on chalky soils, the wine having aged for 12 months in 500 litre oak barrels, of which 20% were new. Bright mid ruby colour, aromas are open and charming, recalling fragrant, sweet red cherries. Palate is full, rounded and with good stuffing, the oak having contributed broadness of body, creaminess of texture and spicy complexity that interweaves with ripe fruit purity. This wine sings in 2018 – the first vintage we have shipped from the domaine – where fine structure, ripe tannins and juicy middle are in perfect balance. The finish is long and harmonious (for drinking 2020-2024+).
