This wine comes from 60-100 year-old, co-planted Grenache (60%) Cinsault (30%) and Syrah (10%) vines, which border the family’s Châteauneuf vineyards. Colour is a brilliant ruby, with attractive strawberry aromas, with notes of earl grey and herbal spice (“thanks to the Cinsault and the stems”). Palate is full and flavoursome, with delicate texture and a finish that has bite and freshness. An attractive, elegant Côtes du Rhône, perfect to drink with caillette (a local speciality of succulent sausage-meat wrapped in spinach, served by Caroline’s mother when we visited – a flavour sensation) but equally delicious without it (for drinking 2020-2022+).
