The vines for this wine lie in the Layon Valley, famous for brilliant sweet whites. There is a magical alchemy at work here, where the character of the schist soils brings bright, mineral freshness to the super-ripe Chenin Blanc grapes. The results are rich, intense wines which are also racy, delicate and refined. This organic Saint Aubin is the lightest of Alexandre’s sweet Chenins, being sourced from 50% botrytis-affected, and 50% golden grapes, subsequently fermented and matured in tank. Bright, pale lemon-gold colour, aromas are scented and fine, recalling sweet pineapple and peach. Luscious, mouth-coating richness is enlivened by lemony acidity on the palate. The finish is fine, vivacious and long lasting.
