Under the same ownership as Ch Pichon Longueville Baron, this is now firmly recognised as one of the greatest Sauternes First Growths, and benefits from all the meticulous care needed to produce the finest wines. Picking of grape berries often takes place literally one by one, and there is rigorous elimination of all but the best barrels from the final Grand Vin selection.
In colour, green-golden, this wine’s aromas are intense and powerful, showing the complex, elegant, multilayered character which only comes in the greatest Sauternes years. Palate is concentrated, with rich, honeyed fruitiness, sumptuous texture, mineral tension and vitalising acidity, which will ensure many decades of growing complexity. Length is spectacular, spicy and refreshing (for drinking 2022-2045+).
