The Grange`s wines come from a single plot called Burge`s Field, located on the Hampshire Downs, 5 miles east of Winchester. Planted in 2011, on land that had been owned by the family for generations, it is a perfectly positioned, south-facing slope, overlooking the River Itchen, where a thin cap of gravelly clay lies over a deep layer of pure white Cretaceous chalk. The latest release of The Grange`s non-vintage Pink is a blend of 52% Pinot Noir with 48% Pinot Meunier from the 2017 harvest, with a generous helping of reserve wines from 2016. The Pinot Meunier of Burge`s Field is particularly characterful, giving layers of fragrant fruit to this wine. Very pale pink in colour, aromas are subtle and lifted, recalling fresh strawberries and redcurrants, with an attractive biscuity note. Palate is clean, dry (9g/l), fresh and linear. This is a precise, vivacious sparkling wine with good mid-palate intensity and a crisp, vibrant finish.
