A ‘murger’ is a pile of stones that a vigneron creates when clearing a patch of land in order to plant it. This is a strenuous task, made more disagreeable when the stones are as sharp as a dog’s teeth, as experienced here. This is one of the village’s top Premier Cru sites, lying north of En Remilly, and close to the Le Montrachet hillside. It benefits from excellent exposure to the sun, gentle breezes and free-draining soils. Green-golden in colour, this has tighter aromas than En Remilly, but they are very fine and flinty. The palate shows concentrated fruitiness, with tight, intense flavours and superb length. This will benefit from bottle-age, to develop silky texture and great complexity (for drinking 2019-2024+).
