Domaine Gayda’s location high in the hills on the western edge of the Languedoc gives a style of Viognier that is finer and tighter in style than is often seen in Southern France. Pale lemon-green colour, this 2016 is an attractive, delicately peach-scented wine. Palate is light, dry and pure: there is ample richness, yet the acidity is racy and the finish wonderfully clean and fresh.
“Here’s a benchmark viognier from one of the Languedoc’s most prestigious estates. The vines are grown at altitude, for freshness, and the wine tastes of apricot skins, with a slightly musky scent, without being too floral or blowsy. Love it.”
