This comes from a tiny valley at the northern tip of the Côte Chalonnaise, which has always been pre-eminent for its Aligotés (Burgundy’s other fine white grape). A price-list in Beaune’s Maison des Vins shows that Bouzeron’s wines fetched the same price as Chardonnays from Montagny or Pouilly- Fuissé, and more than Saint-Romain, in 1902. In the last 20 years, since the appellation became established, the wines have gone from strength to strength. This has green-golden colour, with fresh, open aromas. It’s a beautiful wine, with ample, fresh fruit, and dry finish with the spark of acidity which good Aligoté brings. For owner Guillot, this is his preferred vintage since 2015 (for drinking 2019-2021+).
