This First Growth always requires bottle-age to soften, bloom and show its full complexities; the 2018 will be no exception. The vines now average 60 years of age. Pale, lemon-gold in colour, this shows smoky, fine aromas, leading into intense richness on the palate, with more roundness and fat than we are used to from this site – thanks to the marvellous summer. The finish is tender and fine (for drinking 2020-2026+).
