This comes from a hillside vineyard to Rully’s north, lying just below 1st Growth Clos du Chaigne. The vineyard is pebble-rich and quite steep, always one of her first to ripen. Chosen barrel by barrel, the secondary, malolactic fermentation was partially blocked here, to retain precious freshness (this representing about 15% of the Cuvée). “I don’t like acidification, this is a better way to retain freshness,” says Claudie. The wine was entirely fermented in small, oak barrels, of which 20% were new. Colour is green-lemon, with very fresh, citrus aromas. Palate is medium-bodied, intensely fruity, clean and lively (for drinking 2020-2022+).
