This vineyard has clay-limestone soils giving a style of Chassagne that is more fleshy and generous than the other Blain-Gagnard Premier Crus. In 2019, the Blains did very little lees-rousing here, so as not to make the wine too round, allowing it to retain vibrancy, alongside its natural richness. Pale silver-gold colour with a beautiful, aromatic, floral nose, the palate of this 2019 is full, complex and richly concentrated. This is a true ‘vin de plaisir,’ having charm, silky texture, finesse and layers of flavour, the finish being tender and fresh (for drinking 2022-2025+).
