This is a rarely seen appellation – and here is an excellent, keenly priced example. The village is bracketed by two of the villages which produce Pouilly-Fuissé, so its reputation has been somewhat overwhelmed by that wine. But this Pouilly-Vinzelles deserves attention. This was barrel-fermented, and light lees-rousing has given a green-gold wine of open, attractively perfumed freshness. Palate is full without heaviness, the fruit being strikingly clean, the finish vibrant (for drinking 2021-2023+).
