This wine comes entirely from the Puligny-Montrachet side of the Grand Cru, from vines which were planted in 1962 (so are now over 50 years old). The parcel is perfectly positioned in the Bâtard-Montrachet “shoulder” – the plot lying between Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet and the great Le Montrachet. As in Clos-Vougeot, top section Bâtard plots are the best. In colour, this is rich, green-golden, with substantial, fresh fruit and roasted almond aromas. The wine fills the mouth with opulent, caressing fruitiness. It has power and fruit concentration, with the creamiest of textures and luscious length. A gorgeous wine (for drinking 2019-2030+).
