As in past years, we shall have to allocate this stellar wine very tightly indeed. The soils here are chalkier and more powdery than those in Bâtard-Montrachet, Sauzet’s vines being located on white marl terraces, right at the top of the vineyard. Consistently, this wine has more fragrant aromatics and mineral nuances that we see with the Sauzet Bâtard. Colour is green-gold, with striking aromas of great finesse and freshness: scented white peach and apricot notes intermingle with those of spice and smoke. The palate shows astonishing, silky richness, with splendid, full body, exhilarating tension and just the right amount of balancing, fresh acidity. The length of flavour is heavenly. For drinking 2020-2030+.
