Faiveley has a superb estate on the Côte Chalonnaise, and a separate, newly renovated winery in Mercurey to handle all the fruit as near to the vineyards as possible. They are sole proprietor of this vineyard, which is regularly their best white from the district. It is two-thirds vinified in stainless steel tank, with the balance in oak barrels. This has very bright, pale lemon-gold colour; nose is open, ripe and attractive, recalling spiced lemons and fresh apricots. The palate combines freshness, vibrancy and energy with the fullness, creamy texture and intense fruit that we classically love in Clos Rochette. This is a wonderfully harmonious wine – brilliant value (for drinking 2018-2021+).
