Champ Canet lies at the north of the appellation, bordering Premier Cru Meursault Les Perrières, just up the hillside from Puligny 1er Cru Combettes. With 1.1 hectares of vines here, this is Sauzet’s largest Premier Cru holding, the vines now averaging 60 years of age. Pale lemon colour, aromas have stunning depth, recalling spiced apricots and fragrant lemon peel. The palate is silky and mouth-filling, with thrilling, energetic freshness, beautiful purity of fruit, leading through to a long and complex finish. This will be magnificent, given a little bottle age (drinking from 2020-2026+).
