Indigenous to the Alto Adige, the Kerner grape is a cross between Schiava (Vernatsch) and Riesling, being best suited to Kurtatsch`s south-east facing vineyards at 800 metres above sea level. Due to the high temperature difference between day and night, the grapes retain their natural, firm acidity and develop intense aromas during the long ripening period. The result is a thrilling, exhilerating white wine with a scented nose, recalling orange blossom, white peach and grapefruit, with a backnote of flint. Palate is razor sharp, racy and energetic. Light in body, flavours are pure and lifted – this is intense and precise, the finish being fine, saline and very long.
