Maison Laroze de Drouhin, Gevrey-Chambertin
2016 Burgundy En Primeur
We are delighted to introduce the wines of Laroze de Drouhin to our En Primeur selections. This name may sound familiar as it is the negociant arm of Domaine Drouhin-Laroze (see page 38), set up in 2008 at the initiative of Caroline Drouhin. This has enabled the family to supplement their supply of grapes, increasing their selection of wines and appellations. As Caroline explains: “we do not own these plots, but manage and work the vineyards with the owners, hand-harvesting ourselves, and making the wines with the same attention to detail as we do the wines of our own Domaine.” Caroline and her brother – head winemaker – Nicolas have found it fascinating to work with new terroirs: the fruits of this 2016 harvest are a delight. It is with great pleasure that we offer their two Laroze de Drouhin reds to you now.
