Domaine Les Florets lies at the foot of the rocky Dentelles de Montmirail. Its vineyards extend over 4 hectares of steep terrain in the Gigondas appellation, which were revived in 2007 by new owners, seeing the potential in the northeast facing terraces. Most Gigondas is made from low lying vineyards, but we are very much in the mountains at Les Florets, the vines reaching up to 500 metres above sea level. With summer temperatures rising, such cooler, higher altitude locations are becoming greatly sought-after, as the grapes can ripen at a gentler pace, and it is easier to retain precious natural freshness. Ownership of the Domaine changed in January 2021 with the arrival of Jérôme Rathle, who has long experience in sustainable development and environmental protection. He is applying these principles in the viticulture and winemaking here, with the estate now in organic conversion. Oenologist Olivier Roustang works alongside him as a consultant winemaker.
