This property is superbly situated, lying between two of Pomerol`s greatest, rarest names: Vieux Château Certan and Château Lafleur. This is at the heart of Pomerol’s greatest sector, on the siliceous-clay, central plateau. Certan de May has just 5.5 hectares of vineyard, and has benefitted from the consultancy input of Jean-Claude Berrouet (who made more than 40 vintages at Pétrus) since 2013. The 2023 blend is 65% Merlot with 25% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, giving a Pomerol that shows generosity and refinement, with great potential for ageing. Aromas are alluringly lifted and layered, with cassis and floral bramble fruits. Palate has power, focus and great depth, structure being fine, texture fresh and silky. This is a Certan de May of beautiful fluidity, class and harmony (for drinking 2032-2044+).
