Wine List 2019-2020
Discoveries, New Names, Great Bottles
This list is a snapshot in time featuring all the wonderful bottles we have found in the past year. Our search for new wines is never ending and as more discoveries arrive, this website is the best way to see all our latest offers.
We have introduced four superb new Domaines from the Loire Valley – see pages 37-39. There is a bright, pure Chardonnay from Christophe Réthoré, a juicy Saumur-Champigny from Domaine Sanzay, and two stunningly perfumed reds, a Gamay and a Côt, from Jean-François Merieau. We are thrilled to have, for the first time, an allocation of two cuvées of the wonderfully dry, saline Montlouis from Domaine de la Taille aux Loups. These whites have long been favourites of ours and we are delighted to be shipping these fantastic bottles.
We are increasingly excited by the quality coming out of the Rhône Valley, both north and south. Our extensive range, on pages 43-46, has been boosted further by wines from Domaine Courbis in Cornas and the impressive white and red from Château de Montfaucon in Lirac.
Our first shipment of Faugères from Domaine du Météore can be found on page 41. This is an impressive, lovely, fresh style and offers tremendous value at just £11.85 per bottle, when bought by the case. A white Pecorino and red Montepulciano have recently arrived from Abruzzo, on Italy’s Adriatic coast. Both are bright, vibrant styles coming in under £10 a bottle, we recommend them highly – pages 54 and 55.
Finally we have a stunning English Sparkling wine from Hampshire’s chalk downs, just outside Winchester. The Grange Classic, page 53, has smooth depth and body combined with all the freshness and zip required of a sparkling wine.
