This historic estate was Jean-Pierre Moueix`s very first acquisition, in 1950. Its vineyards lie in three sectors, all on the central Pomerol plateau. Partly they are close to Pétrus itself, partly they are from adjoining land, planted mainly with old Merlots, which was bought by the Moueix family in the mid-1990s. During the 2000s, further primely positioned vines were purchased, located around Château Hosanna and between Trotanoy and Le Pin. 91% Merlot, with 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot make up the blend in 2023. Glistening, deep, ruby-purple, sweetly spiced, complex aromas of plum and red fruits leap from the glass. This is a mouth-filling, rounded, multi-layered wine, having very precise structure. Richness and intense concentration are lifted by vibrant energy, texture being cleansingly satin-like. The finish has fantastic length and drive (for drinking 2032-2048+).
Please note, this en primeur wine is limited to 1 case online. More may be available: please call 020 7584 7927 or email to enquire further.
