The vineyards of Belle Coline lie on clay-limestone soils in Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux, north-west of Pomerol. Their 11 hectares are planted predominantly with Merlot (91%), the balance being Malbec – average vine age being 35 years. This 2016 is a beauty – mid ruby colour, the nose is attractive, with expressive red cherry and spice aromas. Palate is medium bodied and has very fine, precise structure. This is a focussed, elegant wine, showing youthful, ripe red fruits alongside delicate, savoury nuances. The finish has silky, fresh tannins and a long length (for drinking 2024-2026+).
