The Nebbiolo grapes for this wine come from the steepest, top section of the Sottocastello di Novello vineyard, where they experience a wide diurnal temperature range. The result is a wine of great aromatic complexity. It aged for 24 months in large, old oak barrels and a further 12 months in concrete tank, prior to bottling. As is typical of Barolo, colour is pale ruby-garnet, the nose being incredibly intense and perfumed, with notes of spiced red cherries, pot pourri, prune and forest floor. This is a full, powerful mouthful, having complex, detailed middle palate, with notable tannic charge being beautifully balanced by rich concentration. It finishes silkily and with persistance (for drinking 2023-2027+).
