Under the quiet, determined leadership of Marc Kent, the Boekenhoutskloof wine estate has become one of the preeminent names in South Africa. The grapes for this Syrah are picked from select parcels grown at the estate`s Swartland farms, Porseleinberg (90%) and Goldmine (10%), close to the town of Riebeek-Kasteel. Sensitive, meticulous winemaking, with the use of large oak barrels (so as not to mark the wine with oakiness), have resulted in a Syrah that has a nod to the Rhône Valley, whilst expressing its South African orgins. Medium to deep ruby colour, aromas are classically Syrah, being finely perfumed, with notes of grilled black fruits and spicy black pepper. Palate is full, plush and very finely textured, having excellent concentration of scented flavours. The finish is silky, long and has finesse.
