Winemaker:Scorpo Estate
This fruit for Scorpo`s Estate Pinot comes from two plots – The Original Planting (planted in 1997) and The Old Cherry Orchard (2013), both on old, Eocene, volcanic soil. It spent 12 months in French barriques (20% new). This 2019 is a fleshy, spicy, rich Pinot style. Mid ruby colour, the nose is open and concentrated, full of roasted red cherry, black fruit and licorice aromatics. Palate is full bodied and intense, having a well-marked frame, generous mid-palate fruitiness and a sustained, harmonious finish (for drinking 2022-2024+).

Scorpo Estate
We were delighted to introduce the wines of Scorpo Estate to the UK market in late 2020. Based in Australia`s cool, maritime climate of Mornington Peninsula, Scorpo produce elegant, high quality wines that reflect their home region with a discreet nod to Burgundy. Paul and Caroline Scorpo planted their first vines in 1997. The 17 hectare estate works under the principle that quality wines are made from sustainably farmed, low-yielding, hand-picked vines. Meticulous work in the winery ensures quality is not only maintained but enhanced at the winemaking stage. “This is one of the finest domaines in the unique, boutique wine region, Mornington Peninsula, which has become world-famous thanks to its ultra-fine Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. An expert in these two Burgundian varieties, Scorpo wines are sensual, balanced, graceful and detailed.” - Matthew Jukes, wine writer and creator of the annual 100 Best Australian Wines Report.
