2020 Château d`Issan, 3ème Cru Classé Margaux

Emmanuel Cruse and his team at Château d`Issan have excelled with this 2020 vintage. They were particularly delighted by their sumptuous Merlots, including a higher percentage than usual (39%) in the blend of their Grand Vin. Cabernet Sauvignon comprises 55%, with the fruit of new parcels of Petit Verdot (2%), Cabernet Franc (3%) and Malbec (1%) being included for the first time – adding complexity and extra layers to the blend. These are currently maturing in 50% new oak barrels. Bright purple-ruby in colour, aromas are fragrant and fine: violets, sweet cassis. Palate is finely structured and tightly concentrated, showing plump fruitiness, elegant tannins and exceptional finesse to finish (for drinking 2027-2045+).
