2015 was the first vintage of this wine, Domaine Sauzet having bought 5 hectares of land to the west of Puligny-Montrachet, near La Rochepot and Nolay, in a little valley called Le Boût du Monde. It is one of Burgundy’s isolated mini-gorges, celebrated for rare birds, steep precipices and great walks. Young shoots of Chardonnay were grafted onto the lopped-off, existing vines there – to benefit from their deeply-penetrating, established roots. Pale golden in colour, this had tight aromas, when tasted in October, but the palate was rich and ripe, with fine, fresh finish (for drinking 2024-2026).
