Rose Pourpre comes from a 1-hectare plot of Syrah, planted on the iron-rich, south-facing, vertiginous, schist slopes of the Côte Brun’s Côte Rozier vineyard. This has more weight than Gaillard’s Esprit de Blonde (above), being a mighty, concentrated wine, of substantial proportion and structure. Opaque purple, aromas are impressively woven, with notes of dark fruits, violets, black pepper. This unfurls magnificently on the palate, being rich without heaviness, and having compelling aromatic depth (for drinking 2028-2045+).
