This came 100% from vines in the centre of the village, from a site called En Coton, which now features on the label. “As in 2021, we added in 25% whole clusters for the fermentation,” said Caroline Drouhin-Darlot. In colour, this is ruby-purple of medium depth, with open, fine fruitiness on the nose. On the palate, there’s a good rush of fruit from the start, then chewy middle, finishing smooth and lingering (for drinking 2026-2030+).

Maison Laroze de Drouhin
Laroze de Drouhin is the négociant arm of the prestigious Domaine Drouhin-Laroze of Gevrey-Chambertin. It was set up in 2008 by Caroline Drouhin and has enabled the family to supplement their supply of grapes, increasing their range of wines and appellations. As Caroline explains. “We do not own these plots, but manage and work the vineyards with the owners, hand-harvesting ourselves, and making the wines with the same attention to detail that we bring to the wines of our own Domaine”. Caroline and her brother Nicolas – head winemaker – have found it fascinating to work with new terroirs. These three wines are great value, and delightful.
