This Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs is a single terroir Chardonnay from pure chalk soils in the village of Villers-Marmery. A particularity of this House is that their reserve wine (30% of the final blend) is held in a Solera, a practice more commonly seen in the wineries of Jerez. The gradual, fractional blending of vintages, dating back to 1968, contributes rich complexity. Pale lemon-gold in the glass, with vivacious bubbles, aromas are lifted and fine: lemon pastry, freshly baked bread. Palate is fine and focussed, having excellent depth and a beautifully fresh finish.
