Domaine des Lambrays
2020 Burgundy En Primeur
This lovely property was acquired by Bernard Arnault, the head of Louis Vuitton Moët-Hennessy, back in 2015. His portfolio of great wines includes Cheval-Blanc and d’Yquem, so it is not surprising that he lost no time in up-grading, wherever possible, the facilities at Domaine des Lambrays. We have been buying these beautiful wines for three decades, and are full of admiration for the passionate commitment off the new owner and his team.
2020 is the second vintage since the arrival of Jacques Devauges as manager and wine-maker. His previous experiences had been at three Domaines on the Côte de Nuits, than at Domaine du Clos de Tart, the Lambrays neighbour in Morey-Saint-Denis. He is profoundly steeped in great wine-making, and is steadily introducing carefully thought-through improvements, with respect for the traditions here. 2020 was very sunny, with 20% less rainfall than recent averages. The harvest was the earliest ever – beginning on 20th August, and finishing six days later. Only half a normal crop was produced, due to the extremely dry conditions. The rows of vines here are terraced along the slope, so orientated north-south, which allows grapes to be protected from scorching, and for remarkable freshness to be maintained.
We are delighted to offer the Domaine’s spectacular Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru en primeur. With volumes incredibly limited, please contact us with your requests as soon as possible.
This wine is offered in bond UK, for delivery during winter 2022.
