Domaine Jacky Marteau

One of the most highly respected producers in the region, this family estate has 27 hectares of predominantly Sauvignon Blanc vines, which lie on some of the finest sites of the Touraine. a series of south-facing pebble and flint slopes up above the south bank of the Cher. Created by Jacky Marteau in the 1980s, today the domaine is run by his daughter Ludivine, who has taken Jacky’s rigorous approach to vineyard management and to wine making to even greater lengths. This involves running the vineyards sustainably, with minimum intervention methods that rely on hard work to keep the grapes healthy and to achieve perfect ripeness at harvest. The Touraine’s marginal climate is perfect for Sauvignon Blanc, allowing grapes to reach full maturity while retaining the fresh twist of acidity so essential to the wine’s balance. This gives Ludivine the ability to seek greater complexity while keeping the wine fresh and appetizing.
