The Ile des Vergelesses is perfectly situated in the sweet spot at mid-slope, catching the first rays of the rising sun to start the ripening process. The vines slope gently towards the south, ensuring good drainage and maximum sunshine throughout the day. Pavelot are the second largest owners in what is, for many, Pernand’s greatest red vineyard. 50% whole clusters went into the fermentation vat, giving a wine of medium-deep, ruby-purple colour, and abundantly ripe, red and black fruit aromas. Palate is richly built and broad, texture is creamy, with gentle, refreshing tannins and splendid length (or drinking 2023-2030+).
