Lafont-Menaut was recently acquired by the Perrin family, who are most famously known for the wines they produce at highly-acclaimed Château Carbonnieux. As a Pessac-Léognan expert, Phillibert Perrin has devoted himself to exploiting the potential of the beautifully positioned gravel slopes that make up the Lafont-Menaut vineyards. Of the property’s 10 hectares, 3 produce white wine. 100% Sauvignon Blanc, this 2020 was barrel-aged for 9 months (25% new oak), the result being a white Bordeaux that boasts bright, primary citrus fruit aromatics and complex, flinty tones. Pale lemon-green colour, this is a full, finely textured, expressive Bordeaux white, having lovely depth and a refreshing, mineral finish (for drinking 2023-2025+).
