Description
This is the 5th vintage running we have pounced on this wine for our offer. The wine comes from vines which are more than 40 years old. In a great year like 2020, Burgundy-lovers will relish its true, Grand Cru grandeur. The grapes were 100% de-stemmed, and the wine has been ageing in 35% new barrels. In colour, this is deep, rich purple, with aromas which are open, ripe and intense. Palate is powerfully structured, with dense, fresh fruitiness, balanced, gentle tannins and superb length (for drinking 2025-2035+).

Domaine Seguin-Manuel
Seguin-Manuel was founded in 1824, however its links with Burgundy vineyards date back as far as 1720. In 2004, the business was bought by Thibaut Marion, from an old Beaune family. We first tasted his wines when the firm was still based in Savigny, in a 14th century vat-house with splendid, vaulted cellars which had been built by the Abbey of Cîteaux. On the outside wall could be seen one of the Latin inscriptions for which Savigny is famous. “If my memory serves me right, there are five reasons for drinking. the arrival of a guest, present and future thirst, the quality of the wines and any other reason you like – 1772." Thibaut’s estate covers 8 hectares, and he fine-tuned the wine-making when he moved to a new winery in Beaune. 2010 was the first vintage we made selections from the nearly 30 appellations they make. Thibaut’s drive for increased quality and focus consistently brings excellent results, and these wines remain superb value.
