The Clusel-Roch family is most famously celebrated for their Syrah from the vertiginous slopes of Côte-Rôtie. More recent vineyard purchases have extended into the nearby Coteaux du Lyonnais, where it is the Gamay grape that thrives. The vines lie in the village of Millery, in the southern sector of the appellation, on gentle, south-east facing slopes. Organically made (uncertified), a third of the grapes were fermented as whole bunches with native yeasts, the rest having been destemmed. Bright ruby-purple colour, this is a crunchy, buoyant, unoaked wine, having light body, scented, red summer fruit flavours, and a radiant, lively finish.
