75% of this wine comes from vines averaging 60 years of age, from a steep-sloping, east-facing First Growth at the edge of the village, above the road to Beaune. 25% of the Pinot grapes came from a 6-year-old vineyard, bringing welcome vibrancy. Before global warming, this site sometimes struggled to mature its Pinots, as cool air can flow down the valley past it, which used to delay the ripening. In 2021, this was not a problem. Colour is rich, purple-red, aromas are spicy and ripe. Palate is rich, with generous density, round finish and excellent length (for drinking 2025-2032+).
