2021 Picnic Pinot Noir, Two Paddocks, Central Otago

The Two Paddocks Picnic Pinot is a vivid expression of Central Otago Pinot Noir, from estate owned vineyards in Alexandra, Gibbston and Bannockburn. Following on from the small crop of 2020, thanks to spring frost, 2021 was a much more straightforward vintage, with settled conditions during flowering, and excellent weather right up to and over harvest – with no extremes of temperature. This aged for 9 months in French barriques (10% new oak).

Bright, pale ruby-purple colour, aromas recall crunchy, ripe, red and black berries, with a hint of spice. Palate is medium-bodied. juicy and full of radiant, pure fruitiness. This is a Pinot that has luminosity and vibrancy, texture being silky, structure fine, the finish being satisfyingly long (for drinking now-2026+).
