The Viognier for the Gaillard Condrieu comes from parcels located in Malleval, Condrieu and Chavanay. It aged in oak, on fine lees, for 5 months, prior to bottling in April 2023: “lees ageing is important for my whites,” Pierre told us. “It builds structure, texture and tension. Early bottling in this warmer vintage was also essential, to preserve acidity and minerality.” This 2022 is at once rich and supple, boasting beautiful, fresh fruit purity. This is a full bodied, creamily textured, persistent wine, with generous concentration of stone fruit and orange blossom flavours, and a streak of mineral freshness to finish (for drinking 2024-2026+).
