The late Denis Clair made the reputation of this Domaine thanks to his formidable red wine-making skills. The arrival of his talented son Jean-Baptiste, with his commitment to take the whites up to the level of the reds, has meant that the Domaine has also now become pre-eminent for its range of Saint-Aubins. Jean-Baptiste compares his red 2022s to his excellent, finely balanced 2019s, saying that the 2022s do not have the more pronounced, sunny richness of the 2020s (which were more concentrated by drought in August).
