Domaine des Sanzay

Set in the ancient wine-making village of Varrains, with its tuf houses surrounded by vines, Didier and Céline Sanzay`s estate dates back to 1880. Didier represents the 5th generation to run the estate, and his son Ludovic is now helping him after studying viticulture abroad and in France. They own 28 hectares of vines of which 25 are planted with Cabernet Franc, the rest being Chenin Blanc, split into 80 different parcels. The vines are planted predominantly on the tuf limestone in Varrains and the surrounding communes. 2019 was the first vintage of the domaine being certified fully organic, but they had been working organically for more than 10 years prior to this. As part of this, they use Smart Green 100% recyclable corks. Vines are grassed through, with as few treatments being used as possible.
