Located in the heart of the Provence countryside, near the village of Flassans-sur-Isole, Domaine de Pique Roque is a 70 hectare estate which covers large oak forests, pasture land and vineyards. Having started his career in wine sales in the UK, when his parents bought the Pique Roque estate as part of their retirement plan, British born Max Hubbard moved to the region, studied oenology and made it his mission to transform the property’s vineyards and reputation as a producer of top quality Provence wines. The family’s vines are concentrated on gently sloping hillsides, where stony clay-limestone soils are ideal for growing grapes. They make white, red and rosé wines, but it is their Côtes de Provence rosé (a blend of 30% Syrah, 30% Grenache, 20% Cinsault and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon) that we have consistently been impressed by, and have been shipping to the UK since the 2006 vintage.
