The vines for Mémora grow in the loose, sandy soils of the Pignan and Cassanets sectors of Châteauneuf, not far from the famous Château Rayas. They benefit from a slight slope to the east, allowing for relatively cooler temperatures and slower growing conditions, giving a Châteauneuf of immense finesse. The blend here is 70% Grenache with 30% Syrah, fully destemmed and aged for 12 months in neutral tanks, to preserve every ounce of the wine’s naturally beautiful, pure scent. Mid ruby colour, aromas are incredibly intense and lifted, recalling red cherry and cassis, with complex floral nuances. Palate is full and plush yet has lightness of touch, freshness and brightness – and the most wonderfully alluring, silky texture. The finish is classy and long (for drinking 2023-2030+).
